Since 1999 Acorn has raised over £790,000 and provided funding for equipment, facilities and a research fellow at Leeds General Infirmary Rheumatology Department under Professor Emery; kick-started a service for people with early onset (working age) dementia in Harrogate, raised funds for a befriending service for carers and sufferers of dementia in the Harrogate and Ripon area, organised and funded luncheon clubs and events for the Alzheimer's Society and much, much more...

Acorn has raised £95,000 this year so far bringing our total to £790,000 since we started in 1999!

Thank you all for helping to make this a fantastic fundraising year for Acorn. For details of what's gone on and how the money has been raised, go to our press releases page.

It's official Louise Hanen, Chair of Acorn is to be one of the 600 Torch Bearers in Yorkshire.

Louise, who was nominated by committee member Caroline Barr is just so excited to be doing this and hopes you will join her at Barkston Ash on Tuesday 19th June.  Times and exact spot are to be confirmed 4 weeks before.  "It's such a huge privilege and honour" said Louise  "I must start training and will be running in memory of my dear father Luc and will be thinking of all the people with dementia and their carers - hopefully they won't feel so isolated and on their own in the difficult journey they are facing as we continue to try to raise awareness and campaign for people with dementia and their carers".
