Acorn raises funds for people with dementia and their carers in the Harrogate and Ripon area and for research into Scleroderma Disease at Leeds General Infirmary.
The Acorn Committee raises funds for two charities – for research into scleroderma disease at Leeds General Infirmary and for people with dementia and their carers through the Ripon and Harrogate branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.
In the last eleven years, Acorn has raised over £700,000 and provided funding for equipment, facilities and a research fellow at Leeds General Infirmary Rheumatology Department under Professor Emery, kick-started a service for people with early onset (working age) dementia in Harrogate, raised funds for a befriending service for carers and sufferers of Alzheimer's in the Harrogate and Ripon area, organised and funded luncheon clubs and events for the Alzheimer's Society and much, much more...
ACORN BREAKS RECORDS AT ANNUAL GOLF DAY
Acorn's annual golf day broke three records at the annual Golf Day held this year at Alwoodley Golf Club. A fantastic £9,500 was raised - the most ever at our golf day - by 104 players - also our most. And this was topped by the first ever Acorn Hole in One! ACORN BRIDGE DAY IS ACE!
The third annual Acorn Bridge Day took place in October with 96 bridge enthusiasts at Goldsborough Hall. With £900 raised for Acorn's charities, the day was won by Brenda Edmondson and Annette Thomas with Jacqueline Davidson and Liz St Urdy as runners-up.
