Acorn raises funds for people with dementia and their carers in the Harrogate and Ripon area and for research into Scleroderma Disease at Leeds General Infirmary.
The Acorn Committee raises funds for two charities – for research into scleroderma disease at Leeds General Infirmary and for people with dementia and their carers through the Ripon and Harrogate branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.
In the last eleven years, Acorn has raised over £600,000 and provided funding for equipment, facilities and a research fellow at Leeds General Infirmary Rheumatology Department under Professor Emery, kick-started a service for people with early onset (working age) dementia in Harrogate, raised funds for a befriending service for carers and sufferers of Alzheimer's in the Harrogate and Ripon area, organised and funded luncheon clubs and events for the Alzheimer's Society and much, much more. .
