Acorn 100K Bike Ride30/05/2009Dear Friends of Acorn
THE ACORN 100K BIKE RIDE - SATURDAY 30th MAY 2009
Last year, The Acorn Committee organised a 100k bike ride in North Yorkshire raising a fantastic £25,000! This money was
divided between the two charities which Acorn supports - people with dementia and their carers in the Ripon and Harrogate area and research into
scleroderma disease at Leeds General Infirmary.
This year's Acorn Bike Ride takes place on Saturday 30th May on the same route as last year's bike ride. Once again, we would be
delighted if you (and your friends) would like to join us to challenge your fitness, endurance and cycling prowess on a circular route starting
and finishing at Bishop Monkton (near Ripon) and including Easingwold, Sheriff Hutton and Tollerton.
The route will be fully marshalled and first aid and technical support will be available to all riders. Drinks stops and a light
lunch will be provided en route. The start time from Bishop Monkton Village Hall will be 8.00am and check in from 7.30am. Lunch will be at Sheriff
Hutton Village Hall.
If you would like to join us and help raise funds for our two charities, please complete
this form and send it back to us with a cheque for £20 payable to The Acorn
Committee. Then please post it to Gilly Mason, Hillside, Nidd Lane, Birstwith HG3 3AL. You will then receive your rider number and rider pack with
full details of the route, safety procedures, sponsorship form etc.
If you would like extra entry forms for your family or sporty friends, please contact Gilly on 01423 772935 or email
gillymason40@hotmail.com
We are delighted that
www.lights4fun.co.uk have once again offered to be
our principal sponsor but If you would like to support Acorn by sponsoring part of the event there are lots of opportunities available and we would
love to hear from you.
For full details of sponsorship opportunities or any other queries, please contact Mandy Lax on 01423 501791 or email
mandylax@btinternet.com. If you would like to help on the day by marshalling the route, please contact
Chief Marshall Richard Hanen on 01423 734876 or email louisehanen@aol.com. We would, of course, be delighted to receive donations from those who
would prefer not to cycle.
To help you with your training please don't hesitate to join Wheel Easy, a local cycling club. For more information on their meeting
place and rides take a look at their website
www.wheel-easy.org.uk.
Please help us to make a difference for these two worthwhile charities and have a fantastic fun day out at the same time!
With best wishes.
